It’s official. I’m completely obsessed with this whole writable dish fad. Let’s face it. I’ve never been very good at remembering what wine charm someone placed on my glass. This summer I finally altered my “go-to” wine and I’m praying that my local liquor store keeps my new favorite, Starborough New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc, in stock. Truth be told I picked up the bottle initially because I liked the label and thought it sounded a lot like Stars Hollow (the picturesque fictional home of the Gilmore Girls). Yes, this is the bizarre way in which I choose my alcoholic beverages. Does it make me think of pop-culture? Yes! Is it pretty? Yes! Well then I absolutely have to buy it of course.

The gamble did payoff though. This wine makes my heart happy. The producer describes Starborough as having “a plush, approachable style, highlighted by the refreshing fruit accents and acidity that characterize wines from this region. The wine shows flavors of honeydew melon, passion fruit, and peach over a citrus background.” I just like that it makes me think of sparklers, sunscreen, and hot summer nights. All things that will be in short supply in New England very soon.
