Sure you can make baked beans in a regular pot but why would you? This piece also just happens to be from the Heritage collection which brings back vintage Le Creuset designs so we can enjoy them in our kitchens immediately instead of scouring estate sales and ebay for them. I think I have a little addiction to all of the designer discount sites that are popping up everywhere. It started with Rue La La and progressed rapidly since then. The thing is I don’t tend to buy sexy stilettos and leather handbags. Instead, I’m on the prowl for great deals on kitchen gadgets, cute dishes, and colorful utensils. Most of the time I’m able to curb my desire to impulse shop my way into the poor house but sometimes a girl can’t control herself and I hit the “submit” button on a great order of fabulous things.

One Kings Lane happens to be one of these addicting sites. Generally they specialize in designer décor, furniture, accessories and gifts, but they’ve recently announced that they’ll be expanding into kitchen goodies. Every Sunday (beginning on August 29, 2010) at 5:00 PM PDT, One Kings Lane will offer the latest in gourmet food. I have another hot shopping tip for you. This Friday (June 18th, 2010) at 11:00 AM EST the venerable Rue La La is having a sale on Le Creuset products. Yay! Let’s hope they have pretty colors to choose from because I don’t actually own a proper full-sized brand name dutch oven. I shockingly enough just have a smaller version that I had to hunt down on eBay. Unfortunately I paid more for that unique pot in lilac than you’re going to pay for the gigantic version on Friday, but perhaps this sale will be good enough to tempt us all to splurge?

I also have one “don’t buy this” suggestion. I own a Caribbean Blue Le Creuset enamel stock pot and while I used to like it quite a bit I’m finding that I don’t like it anymore. It’s quite thin and contents on the bottom of the pot catch on all the time making it horrible to clean. So even if they have some of those for super cheap I’d avoid them.

I so shouldn’t tell you guys this because I know you’re going to sneak in and buy all of the really cool things before I remember to log in, but this Saturday starting at 11:00 AM EST a Mario Batali Boutique is opening at Rue La La. Trust me. You’re going to want to check it out!

In case you aren’t familiar with this awesome service, Rue La La is a fabulous members only shopping site that offers huge discounts on designer goods ranging from handbags to lasagna pans for a limited time each day. Speaking of pans I so hope one of those enormous cast iron Batali lasagna pans is available in this weekend’s sale!

While a cooking related boutique isn’t available every day over the past few months I’ve seen a large number of culinary related sales on Rue La La including items from The Culinary Institute of America, Kate Spade Home, Wedgwood’s Vera Wang collection, and Henckels. Not to shabby, right?

I feel like shouting, “It’s alive!” After months of searching for purple versions of Le Creuset products, which I documented on my blog, and finally giving in and purchasing several pieces on eBay, at last the Le Creuset pieces formerly known as “lilac mist” and “aubergine” have been rebranded and released in the states as “lilac” and “cassis.” Why? I have no idea. Perhaps these are more “American” sounding colors? But either way I’m ecstatic. Currently these pieces are exclusive to Sur La Table. Personally I feel that a big dutch oven purchase is in my immediate future.

After happening upon this French Bull Utensil Set in a magazine I coveted it hardcore for several years, but it seemed to be perpetually popular and therefore always out of stock. Then via some miracle this summer it actually became available right in time for my birthday. My friend Melissa bought it for me and I screamed with unrestrained delight when I opened the gift.
